Allison Mandell

RDN, LDN

(she/her/hers)

I practice from a weight inclusive, health at every size aligned, and fat positive perspective. At Beyond Therapy and Nutrition Center, I support individuals in healing their relationship with food and their bodies in a way that is rooted in compassion, autonomy, and respect.

My mission is to empower each person I work with to make peace with food, honor their body's inherent wisdom, and live a life no longer consumed by the pursuit of an unrealistic ideal.

As a social justice-informed clinician, I deeply value each client’s lived experience. I recognize that eating disorders and disordered eating affect people of all sizes, races, genders, and backgrounds, and I’m committed to creating a space that is inclusive, affirming, and respectful of each person’s intersecting identities.

I firmly believe that food is about so much more than just nutrition - it's an experience, a way to connect with others, and a means of making cherished memories. That's why I'm so passionate about helping others rediscover the beauty, comfort, and joy in nourishing themselves without shame or restriction.

With a dual bachelor's degree in Nutritional Science and Psychology, as well as a master's degree in Nutritional Science from Rutgers University, I've dedicated my career to supporting individuals of all ages on their journeys of recovery and self-acceptance.

More About Allison

I have experience working alongside both teens and adults in the residential level of care, as well as partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient. My specialties include guiding those struggling with disordered eating, as well as adolescents and adults in eating disorder recovery.

While I love working with anyone who is ready to heal their relationship with food and their body, I especially find meaning in supporting adults of all ages who are navigating life transitions, have experienced trauma, and are exploring how those experiences have shaped their connection to food and body.

My greatest joy is creating a safe, nurturing space where my clients feel truly seen, heard, and empowered. I strive to hold a non judgmental, compassionate space where you feel seen, heard, and safe - no matter where you are on your journey you are welcome here, just as you are.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my dachshund, Mr Patrick, and my fiance. I love listening to a good podcast, sitting on my couch to read a book, or watching a TV show I’ve probably seen before. I’m also a very proud auntie to a niece and nephew who I absolutely adore — they bring so much joy to my life, and I spend as much time with them as I can. I love getting outdoors, especially to hike in places like Ithaca, the Smoky Mountains, and the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. I also love a good cup of coffee — hot, all year round —preferably from a cozy local coffee shop.
